The Institute of Leadership and Management of the Ukrainian Catholic University invites to the "Light of Justice" awards ceremony. The "Light of Justice" award is presented for the moral, spiritual and ethical leadership. The event will be held on December 14 in the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko at the following address: Kyiv, 12 T. Shevchenko Blvd. The award is intended to draw attention to value leadership, the importance of moral principles in leadership and to popularize examples of such leadership in Ukrainian society. This year, the winner was chosen among those who demonstrated moral leadership during the 2014 Revolution of Dignity.
The award was founded in 2010 by a Canadian of Ukrainian origin – Anastasia Shkilnyk (died in 2014) and Borys Hudziak, bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in honour of Anastasia's father, Dr. Mykhailo Shkilnyk, a lawyer, public and political figure during the 1917-1920 liberation movement in Ukraine.
Ever since its creation, the award has been presented to five persons – a journalist and an investigator of corrupt schemes Nataliia Sedletska (2017), a former Ukrainian military Nadiia Savchenko (2015), a human rights activist from Luhansk Larysa Zalyvna (2012), the leader of the Crimean Tatar national movement Mustafa Dzhemilev (2011), and a publicist Yevhen Sverstiuk (2010).
The event is going to feature a film about Anastasia Shkilnyk and her father, the inaugural speech of this year's winner, the discussion "Moral Challenges of Modern Leadership" and the performance of the band "Yakiv Tsvetinskyi Quartet". Special guests of the evening: laureates of the previous years Mustafa Dzhemilev and Larysa Zalyvna, UCU Purpose and Mission Vice-Rector Myroslav Marynovych and UCU President Borys Hudziak.
